New Scouts

New Scouts
Welcome New Scouts!

...and your families.  Congratulations on joining Pack 112, one of the best Cub Scout Packs in Tallahassee.

We are a very active Pack, with fantastic boys, families, and leaders to help you out.  Our goal is to make you feel welcome at all our events, from Den Meetings to Pack camping trips.  If there is anything we can do to help with that transitions, please let your son's leader know.

Don't Get Overwhelmed

Cub Scouting is about FUN!  If you have questions, ask!  Don't be shy, we are more than happy to answer questions and get you pointed in the right direction.   We've all been where you are right now, with that sense of 'what did I just get myself into?'.   So let us know what we can do to help.

Parent's Handbook

We have a pretty extensive Parent's Handbook... which is currently not online.  We just transitioned to this new website, and we haven't got everything put into place yet.  Stay tuned!

Uniform

Pack 112 believes the uniform is very important.  That said, we seldom do formal uniform inspections, and we don't insist on official BSA pants.  Any navy blue pant of shorts will work, or olive green for the Webelos.  The uniform shirt is important, as are the patches, the neckerchief, the slide, and the hat.  If you need help on uniform items, let us know.

Rank Handbook

The first thing your Scout needs is the appropriate Rank handbook.  You can get them from the Scout Shop or online at ScoutStuff.org

Class A, Class B, Field, Activity... I'm so Confused!

You will hear us talk about several types of uniforms.  The 'Class A' (old term) or 'Field Uniform' (new term) is the navy blue or khaki uniform with neckerchief, hat, etc.  The 'Class B' (old term) or 'Activity Uniform' (new term) is a Scout T-Shirt and either scout pants or jeans or shorts.  Hats are optional.  We wear Field uniform for most meetings, and Activity uniform for many outdoor activities.

Yes, we have Class B T-Shirts.  There are a few for sale now, and we'll do a new custom order in October.

Leadership

Pack 112 has some of the best trained leaders in town.  The current list can be found here, and we are always looking for more volunteers.

To get you started, remember your son's Den Leaders (there are usually two), and from the there is moves up to the Cubmaster and Assistant Cubmaster, who run the 'program', and then to the Pack Committee Chair, who is responsible for all activities.  The Pack is run by Committee, and all parents, leaders, and involved adults are welcome to join the Committee.

Meetings

Remember, Meetings are Monday nights, 6:30pm, at the church.  They typically run about an hour.
